The Hero Foundry launches website and fundraising initiative The Hero Foundry launches a website and fundraising initiative to further its mission to provide comic books, graphic novels and similar literature to children through libraries, schools, hospitals, and other organizations that lack the financial resources to supply these materials. Dallas, Texas, April 24, 2006 -- The Hero Foundry website, www.theherofoundry.org, launches on April 24, 2006 accompanied by a fundraising initiative to raise money to provide comic books, graphic novels and similar literature to children through libraries, schools, hospitals, and other organizations that lack the financial resources to supply these materials. In 2005 lifelong comic book fan and Hero Foundry President, Brian Warthen, had a medical emergency arise. While awaiting a surgical procedure to rectify this potentially life threatening issue, Brian sat down to work on his will, and at that point decided that he wanted to use his life-long love of comic books to positively influence the future. He brought his idea to his two best friends, childhood friend Lance Shankles and fellow comic fan Edward Priddy. Together the three of them set about planning a way to put comic books in the hands of children. It was decided that the best way to accomplish this was by donating comic books to libraries, schools and hospitals. These three friends decided to name their non-profit organization, "The Hero Foundry," in the hopes of inspiring today’s kids to become the heroes of tomorrow. Many months later, The Hero Foundry was born. The Hero Foundry is a Non Profit Organization founded in 2006 in order assist libraries, schools, hospitals, and other organizations that lack the financial resources in building a library of comic books, graphic novels, and similar literature. Their intentions are to increase literacy, inspire creativity, and most importantly, to provide positive role models and moral guidance to today’s youth through the comic book medium. Donations to The Hero Foundry are accepted in the form of monetary contributions through their PayPal account (thefuture@theherofoundry.org), mailing a check to the address below, or by stopping by their booth at one of their upcoming comic convention appearances. Additionally, comic books, graphic novels and other materials will be accepted. These donations will be used to either help stock the beneficiaries of The Hero Foundry, or will be sold in order to help finance the Foundry’s mission.
